Dosages for CBD are not well established. Why is this?
Most medications are dosed on height, weight, and/or age of the person. This makes sense as they are created in a lab and can have tremendous amounts of potency. Too little will not address your condition and too much can have tremendous side effects. Prescribed medications are, well, drugs. Being such, proper dosage is vital for both performance of the medication and to minimize side effects (although they all have them).
CBD is quite different. First of all, it is not created in a lab. It is a natural ingredient derived from industrial hemp under the 2014 Farm Bill Act. Although many take it for stress and/or anxiety and it’s touted as having positive psychoactive effects, it does not have any intoxicating effects.
More importantly, it works to help your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) function better. CBD works better than many competing products that are created in a lab (drugs) to accomplish the same thing. The reason? Great results and very little to no adverse effects. This area of science is growing quickly and we want to help you benefit.
How do you determine what dose is right for you?
Ask yourself a few questions: How many hours do you sleep? How much do you exercise? Are you overweight? Do you smoke, drink, etc? How is your diet? Do you have a lot of stress? If you are following the direction of these questions, it becomes clear that the more you have that is taxing your system, the more damage you are causing to your ECS.
You see, the more stress you have in your system, the more FAAH and MAGL (the nasty enzymes that eat away at your endocannabinoids) you will have. The more FAAH and MAGL you have circulating in your body, the less Anandamide and 2-AG (your endocannabinoids) you have to work with the CB1 and CB2 receptors. And, if your CB1 and CB2 receptors are not being stimulated, then your ECS is essentially dead. This is not what we want!
Knowing that CBD works to reduce the deleterious enzymes is part of the picture.
The other part is trying to figure out how stressed out your neurological system is and this is not easy to do. There is no medical test that can answer this for us. This is truly unique to each individual.
How do we recommend dosing at Noetic Nutraceuticals?
First of all, CBD has been established to be safe at even very high doses, far higher than anything that is produced on the market for consumption. We do not look at this as an excuse to take as much as we can as CBD is expensive.
We believe it is best to start with a ‘moderate’ dose and go from there. For many people, 20-40 mg of CBD Oil per day is where they notice their desired results.
This also varies depending on the product. With Nano products, like our Nano Bursts Gummies, you will need a lower dosage because the absorbency rate is much higher.
The most effective way to take CBD is to follow the directions for suggested use on each product’s package.
Take the same dosage, at the same time of day, for at least a week. If you see no benefits, up the dose a little bit to stimulate your ECS. If you see minimal benefits, also consider upping the dose a little. If you get great results, stay where you are or perhaps trying lowering the dose a little.
Research provides us with guidelines for dosing for various conditions, but these are just recommendations, not doses proven by hard science. Being that CBD has not been evaluated by the FDA to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases, common sense dictates to start with a reasonable dosage, and alter based on your individual needs. You will no doubt find a dose that works best for you, even if it takes a bit of time. If you have questions, reach out and Ask The Doc!
